Watch the car specialist from the Fast & Furious movies discuss every car in the franchise

Dennis McCarthy is credited as the picture car coordinator for the new film The Fate of the Furious. He is also the man behind every car in every film in the franchise, going all the way back to 2001’s The Fast & the Furious.

McCarthy and his team are responsible for sourcing and building the cars for every movie, often building several copies of the same vehicle in order for the film crew to do multiple takes of a stunt or crash.

In the video below, he talks about every major car in the franchise, beginning with the 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by Paul Walker’s character in the first film (a replica of which is shown above) and Vin Diesel’s 1970 Dodge Charger from the same movie, along with other memorable cars such as the Mazda RX-7, 1969 Yenko Camaro, Nissan Skyline GT-R and the Mitsubishi Lancer (to name just a hand full!)

It’s clear that he can talk about any of the cars for hours, but somebody managed to condense the video down to a respectable 18 minutes, and it’s well worth a watch to see just how much work, passion and attention-to-detail went into these films.

The Fate of the Furious is in cinemas now.
